From: Mrs. Sabine Koussi & David.

From:  Mrs. Sabine Koussi & David Junior.
Rue 12, Avenue 16 Agboville.
Abidjan - Cote D`Ivoire.
Date: SEPT 2008.

Dearest

My name is
Mrs. Sabine Koussi, a nationality of Ivory Cost. I am married to late Dr. Charles David Koussi, who worked with France Embassy in Ivory Coast for nine years before he died in the year 2003. We were married for twenty years with a child. My husband died after a brief illness that lasted for four days. Before his death, my husband deposited the sum of $5 Million with one of the banks here in Ivoiry Coast ( Cote D' Ivoire ).

Recently my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next three months due to my cancer problem although what disturbs me most is my stroke. Having known my condition I have resolved to entrust this money into your kind custody so that you will safeguard it for the benefit of my only son Charles and the humanitarian work which my late husband wished to carry out.You will use part of this fund to assist orphanages, research centres and widows propagating the word of God and to ensure that the house of God is maintained. The Bible made us to understand that blessed is the hand that giveth. I took this decision because I have a child that will inherit this money but my son can not carryout this work. My late husband and I decided to use some of the money to work for God and live some for our son to have a better live. Our son is just 16 years old now and been grown up in Africa. I dont want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly manner hence the reason for taking this bold decision of contacting you and trusting in you.

I am not afraid of death because I know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that the lord will fight my cause and I shall hold my peace. I do not want your telephone communication in this regard because of my health conditon; my Doctor told me to avoid recieving telephone call and because of the presence of my family relatives who are always around me.You may call my son, his name is David Junior, on this Telephone number :+225 09990244, Immediately you recieve this message because i have discussed this matter with him before writing you. I dont want any of my husband family relatives to recieve this money.

If you can handle this, reach me by sending the following informations now through this email account:

1- Your Name:
2- Postal Address:
3- Date of Birth:
4- Telephone and fax numbers:
5- Profession with position:

Expecting to hearing from you soonest and please treat this matter as private and confidential.

Remain blessed in the name of the Lord.
Mrs.Sabine Koussi.

Jott August Newsletter - Jott is out of beta

Dear Jott Early Adopters,

It's been awhile since we've seen you over at Jott, but we wanted to let you know that Jott is now out of Beta. You and hundreds of thousands of other early users have helped us design the offerings we're unveiling today. For all the details on the new Jott plans (both free and premium) visit the Get Started page. The product has evolved pretty radically in two years, and we hope you'll take another look. For an overview of the current Jott feature set, go to our Learn More page.

You were part of our beta experiment, so thank you. If you're interested to learn more about the background of these changes and a special offer, keep reading.

We're "Out of Beta"
Now that millions of Jott messages have been sent and thousands of feedback emails have been read, it's time to apply what we've learned and make a long-term business out of it:
  • We've learned that some people like to leave quick to-dos, while others would rather leave longer messages.
  • Some love how Jott connects them to other productivity services, while others love Jott Links that let them connect to Twitter and other communication services.
  • Some people want apps for their specific phone or email client, while others just want their to-dos on their desktop where they are readily accessible.
From all of the above (and much more), we've designed a simple set of plans that offer something for everybody. You can find all the details about these plans at the Get Started page, and find answers to questions on the We're out of Beta info page.

Two New Jott Apps and the Improved Daily Jott
In addition to the new Jott plans, we've launched two new applications, and also wanted to remind you about the (much improved) Daily Jott.
  • Jott Express is a small, amazingly fast desktop app that lets you create and manage notes without ever having to open your browser. If you've been managing your to-dos in your email, give Jott Express a try: it syncs with the website, the Jott for iPhone app, and even works in offline mode (like when you're on a plane)!

  • Jott for Outlook is designed for those of you who "live in" Outlook. It's a simple download that let's you use Jott to insert calendar appointments, tasks and email drafts directly into Outlook!

  • The Daily Jott gets delivered to your email inbox daily and contains your newest Jott messages. The Daily Jott is turned off by default, but you can turn it on in the Email section of the My Account page. It's included in all Jott plans.
Special Promotion for our Early Adopters
In gratitude for helping us grow and learn over the last two and a half years, we're offering you a special early adopter promotion:
  • A year subscription of the Jott or Jott Pro products at a 26% savings
To take advantage of the "Jott" offer, simply enter your phone number as the promotion code after you select your plan from our Get Started page. For the "Jott Pro" offer, enter your phone number followed by a plus (+) sign.

Again, many thanks for your support of Jott over the last couple of years. Together we've built a great product that's changed the way a significant number of people work and get things done, and we're just beginning.

Yours truly,

Jott July Newsletter - Announcing Jott for iPhone

jott

Dear Jotters,

Greetings from Seattle!

I've been looking forward to writing this letter for some time, knowing that this month we'd be releasing an incredibly cool addition to the Jott product family...

Jott for iPhone
Several months ago, Apple swore us to secrecy, and asked us to make Jott one of the first applications in the new Apple App Store. Well, we've delivered and have received rave reviews so far - currently we are the #1 productivity application (thanks to everyone who has already downloaded it!). If you have an iPhone and haven't tried it yet, Jott for iPhone is available for free from the new Apple App Store.

Jott for iPhone is simply a great tool for capturing your thoughts, creating lists, and managing those lists. The design of the app is beautiful, simple and incredibly easy to use. Click here to watch a short how-to video.

My favorite thing about Jott for iPhone is that once you've created a list, you can "swipe to complete". In a throwback to your (now) old paper and pencil lists, we've made it both easy and incredibly satisfying to cross items off with the swipe of a finger. Admit it, the worst thing about using digital to-do lists is you don't get the satisfaction of physically crossing something off! Well, we've come as close to solving this as anyone ever has.

I'd like to offer a special thanks to all of you who are new to Jott this week by way of Jott for iPhone. We've had an overwhelming response to the application and appreciate everyone's patience with delayed text message validations and some other bumps. We hope you take a look around at some of the other great features Jott.com has to offer (reminders via email & SMS, Jott to contacts, Jott Links, Jott Feeds) and are happy to have all of you on board.

If you haven't tried Jott for iPhone yet, or are now just thinking about getting an iPhone, check out the app, write reviews in the App Store, and help spread the word about Jott to iPhone fans.

Best,
John Pollard, Founder and CEO, Jott Networks

Jott June Newsletter - Jott Feeds, Great Press, and more

jott

Dear Jotters,

Hopefully your summer is entering full swing, and you have some time off in your future. As usual, I want to give you this month's update about goings on here at Jott, including an amazing new feature called Jott Feeds, and some continued great press.

Jott Feeds: listen to your news, blogs, social network updates & more

You've been asking us to make access to your information easier when you're on the go and we think we've found a great way to do just that. Jott Feeds let you listen to all of your important news, blogs, social network updates or any other RSS feed from your phone. You can get some more details on how feeds work on our blog. To quickly understand Jott Feeds you should try it - you are already set up to use it:
  1. Call Jott (866) JOTT 123 or your local Canadian number and say "Jott Feeds".
  2. Then just say the name of one of the pre-loaded feeds: "Lifehacker", "Mashable", "News" or "Weather".
  3. Listen!
You can easily add any of the 'Featured Feeds' to your account, including your Facebook feed, John Cook's Venture Blog, and staff picks like Seth Godin. If you care about a feed that we don't have listed (and you will), then simply add a 'Custom Feed'. Finally, be sure to check out Lifehacker's guide to listening to your Gmail.

Give it a try, and send us feedback. Jott Feeds is in beta, and we'll be rapidly improving it.

The word is out about Jott!

This month we were also featured in some of the biggest blogs and newspapers - beyond all of the positive blogging that our Jotters do (Thanks!). If you haven't had a chance to read any of these check them out: That's it for now. Thanks for your continued feedback and support.

Jott Newsletter: May Edition

jott

Hello everyone,

Happy Spring to you all; hopefully warmer weather has come your way. The sun is thinking of coming out here in Seattle but that hasn't stopped us from staying busy around the Jott office working on some great features and celebrating our 2nd birthday! Take a look at all the action…

Jott turns 2

It's been a long and crazy road since we started Jott and April 18th marked the second year of our existence. We celebrated being one of the 3% of start-ups that stick around that long with some cake from Costco. Thanks to all of you for your support as we've grown bigger and better.

Not all Jott Links are created equal!

The results are in and some of the top Jott Links used by all of you are: Google Calendar, Twitter, Zillow, Amazon and Blogger. If you haven't tried out a Jott Link yet, add one to your account today and give it a go! If you don't have time for even that, you can just say "Amazon" without any set up at all. You can find all the Jott Link information you need here.

Simple steps to better messages

While we are hard at work trying to improve the art of voice recognition technology - yes, it's a bit of an art - there are a few things you (and only you) can do to help improve the quality of your messages.

1) Avoid background noise if you can help it:
This seems obvious, but it really does have a huge impact on the quality the transcription. And we're not just talking Rock Concert category noise (though people have tried jotting there). Even a loud restaurant, or multiple people talking in the background, can lead to bad results.

2) Be aware of accents and pronunciation:
We all say things differently. If you're having a hard time getting the voice recognition system to understand the name of a contact, try our 'Sounds Like' feature. You can find it on the Contacts page on the website. For instance, Jott might struggle with the name Mike Krzyzewski…you might want to put "Sheshefski" or "Coach K" in the Sounds Like field.

3) Try not to mumble:
The clearer you speak, the better the transcription – it's as simple as that. The reality is that we all sometimes start a Jott, and then figure out what we're trying to say on the fly. This leads to mumbles, corrections, and lots of "ums" and "ahs".

4) Spell out proper names and slang
You may know how your co-worker's last name is spelled, but sometimes we could use help. Is it Miller or Mueller? Just spell it out and it will be transcribed as one word.

5) Speed kills:
One of the great things about Jott is its ability to deal with normal speech. We've heard that over and over. But one thing that does degrade quality is when we try to jam a lot of speech into a Jott. So we've learned to slow down a little.

Check out this blog post for an in-depth look at these tips and more.

Mother's Day is Sunday

Now that we all have Jott, we really have no reason to forget Mother's Day! Set a reminder to give your mom a call on Sunday and make that all important woman a happy one. If you do forget, just hope Mom doesn't know about Jott!

That's it for this month. Keep up-to-date with Jott news by reading the blog, or if you haven't already, become a fan on Facebook.

All our best,
The Jott Team

Jott Newsletter: April Edition

jott

Hi All,

It's been a busy month around Jott! We made some more changes to the website (many thanks for the feedback), released a new BlackBerry application, and won 2nd place in the Consumer Application Messaging category of the Emerging Tech Award at CTIA. We're also a promotional partner for a business contest with AllBusiness.com. For a quick debrief of all the action, read on…

Jott announces cure for "Terse Reply Syndrome"

If you are a BlackBerry user, chances are you've sent a reply to an email so short, it was considered rude (e.g. Good start, Needs work, Talk Monday). We're happy to announce the first and only BlackBerry Addict approved, E-Tech Awards 2nd place winning cure.

For those of you who have an 8100 (Pearl), 8300 (Curve), or 8800 model BlackBerry, you can now use Jott to reply to emails with just your voice. Point your BlackBerry browser to www.jott.com/bb, and download the Jott for BlackBerry application. It's easy to use, and integrates perfectly with how you use email today…you don't need to learn a new application.

For more information on Terse Reply Syndrome, and how Jott for BlackBerry can help, visit http://www.tersereplysyndrome.com. (Note: this is a parody starring some Jott employees.)

Website usability changes

First and foremost, thank you to everyone for the great suggestions and feedback about the new website. We made some changes we think you'll be happy with:

1) Multi-select
If you are on a PC, just hold down the "Control" button and click all the Jott messages you'd like to move at once. If you are on a Mac, hold down the "Shift" button. Multi-select makes for easy organizing.

2) "All Jotts" becomes "Inbox": this is obvious in retrospect.

3) View all your to-dos at once
We added an "All Lists" view, so you can easily see all of your lists in one place. Project management just got a little bit easier!

As always, we'd love to hear what you think… the good, the bad and everything in between.

Business contest with AllBusiness.com

Jott is going to be working with AllBusiness.com to promote the "BIG Business Contest" (www.bigbusinesscontest.com). We know a lot of you are small and medium sized business owners, so we'd encourage you to enter. Here's the pitch:

"You've built your team, leveraged your contacts, and honed your business skills. You've worked hard to get your business to where it is today. But you need completely different skills, knowledge and expertise to take your company to the next level. Enter the BIG Business Contest, sponsored by AllBusiness and Maui Millionaires, and win the chance to have world-class advice and mentoring to transform your business into a BIG Business success story…because there is nothing small about your business or your aspirations for the future. Enter today at: www.bigbusinesscontest.com"

The winner also gets a trip for two to Maui. We personally hope that one of you wins, and that you send us a Jott message while lounging on the beach.

That's it for this month! If you'd like to stay in touch with us until the next newsletter, check out the blog, become a fan of Jott on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter (and we'll follow you too!).

Cheers,
The Jott Team
